Local Man Helps People Who Are Blind

Kevin Athey has worked at Alphapointe since 2014. He is a resource planning analyst and supervises and trains others in the call center.

Athey helps fellow Alphapointe employees, like Cameron Black adjust to work. Black is so happy to have Athey helping him utilize software that makes his job — and life — easier.

Some estimates show as many as 80 percent of people who are blind or visually impaired are unemployed. Alphapointe has been in Kansas City for more than 100 years, and is the third largest employer of people with visual disabilities in the United States.
