Gina Gowin was recently promoted to Chief Development and Program Officer as announced by Alphapointe.
Gowin’s career at Alphapointe spans more than a decade and includes a number of significant achievements, including the establishment of the Alphapointe Foundation in 2012. Gowin, who also serves as the Executive Director of the Alphapointe Foundation, is responsible for raising millions of dollars during her tenure, which in turn has led to a significant expansion of Alphapointe rehabilitation, program services and capital support in the organization’s operations in Kansas City, Mo., and Queens, N.Y.
Prior to Gowin’s arrival, Alphapointe traditionally served only a few hundred people with low vision annually. In 2022, Alphapointe established a new organizational record in providing life-changing services to nearly 4,000 people of all ages from around the nation. Gowin established youth programming at Alphapointe, which has grown significantly to include offerings that serve children from across the country, such as its award-winning summer camps. In 2022, Alphapointe served a record 542 youth with vision loss through its programs.
Gowin spearheaded the establishment of Alphapointe’s Low Vision Clinic, which has also enjoyed significant growth and now includes clinics in both Missouri and Kansas. The clinics, which serve people of all ages with low vision, provide services to foster independent living to thousands of patients every year.
During a 30+ year career in the non-profit sector, Gowin has also served in the areas of community development, housing development, domestic violence, diabetes prevention/awareness, counseling and child abuse.
