Low Vision Services
Alphapointe’s low vision rehabilitation services are designed to assist our patients in adjusting to life with vision loss with the goal of maintaining or regaining independence in all aspects of life.
Training and Guidance
When corrective lenses and surgery are no longer effective, our low vision services helps patients deal with the emotional aspects of vision loss and live more productive lives with the vision they have.
Typically, patients have previously seen a doctor for vision correction, but due to increased vision loss, it is no longer effective. Medicare, Medicaid and most third party insurance companies pay for most of the cost of low vision services.
We evaluate a patient’s functional vision and assess and prescribe optical devices to maximize the patient’s vision so they can perform daily living activities and work tasks. Optical devices may include: bioptics, telescopes, prism readers, varying magnification options and much more.

Maintain Independence
Alphapointe’s occupational therapists help patients understand the recommended devices effectively, along with adaptive strategies, techniques and equipment to support our patients’ dignity and help them to do the things they want to do! We assess and identify other services for the patient.
We also provide home visits to ensure that our patients receive comprehensive and effective strategies, feel completely comfortable with the optical devices recommended and to ensure safety and increased independence in the home.
