Our Mission & Vision


We use our mission and vision as guides to lead us forward, to make sure every decision, every action, and every move meets our end goal of serving those with vision loss to the best of our abilities.

The Mission

To empower people with vision loss to achieve their goals and aspirations.

We empower people through:

  • Teaching new ways of doing daily activities. It seems simple but for someone new to vision loss, it’s anything but. Our team helps people learn how to manage laundry, organize clothes, do the cooking and cleaning, shop for groceries, pay the bills, and many other tasks that require a different approach. The goal, of course, is to help them maintain or re-gain independence.
  • Building knowledge and ability with adaptive technology. In today’s world, you can’t work or live without phones, apps, and computers. We’re here to help people who are blind or visually impaired access and feel comfortable with adaptive technologies so they can get back to work and live their lives the way they want.
  • Helping people develop mobility skills. It’s important for people to be able to orient themselves and move around their homes and communities with safety and confidence.
  • Teaching braille. Being able to use braille helps with independence in the workplace, at home, and in the community.

The VIsion

One of the most important ways we serve those with vision loss is to help them understand that sight loss isn’t a barrier to potential.

With the help of our team, support groups, and new skills, we’re working with people to help them overcome the fear, confusion, and hesitance so that they can know what they’re capable of. We want them – and the rest of the world – to know that there is no impossible. Only possibility.

How We Fulfill Our Mission

We serve people who are blind or visually impaired through our programs, which include: 

  • Our Vision Services: Our team doesn’t replace your optometrist. Rather, they step in to help you maximize the vision you do have through a variety of proven methods so you can live as independently as possible. Learn more

  • Employment: Alphapointe is one of the largest employers of people who are blind or visually impaired in the United States. We also help people with job training and placement. Learn more
