SUMMARY:MR340
DESCRIPTION:The Alphapointe Current Riders will Be Competing in Their 4th MR340 \n\n\n\nJoin us as we cheer on the first and only blind/sighted team to compete in the world’s longest non-stop river race – the MR340. Two Alphapointe employees – Jake McLaughlin and Isaac McBurney – will be headed down the river from Kansas City to St. Louis for the fourth time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Team \n\n\n\nBelow\, Isaac (foreground) and Jake both work at Alphapointe\, a nonprofit founded in Kansas City more than 100 years ago with the purpose of employing and serving people who are blind and visually impaired. It’s a mission that continues today — Alphapointe is one of the largest employers of people with vision loss in the region. And provides critical services to more than 4\,000 people who are blind and visually impaired each year. \n\n\n\nIsaac is currently studying at UMKC to be a TVI (teacher for the visually impaired). He manages Alphapointe’s Connecting store\, an adaptive technology retail outlet and works with youth programs and volunteers. Jake is the Director of Special Events and Programs. He has been at Alphapointe for 11 years. \n\n\n\nIn 2026 they’ll be competing in their fourth MR340. \n\n\n\nKey LinksAlphapointe’s Facebook PagePast photo galleryKSHB Report on Last Year’s Team Prep \n\n\n\nBecome a Sponsor\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMR340 Stops for 2026\n\n\n\nDay 1: Miami\, MO (07/28/2026)Day 2: Jefferson City\, MO (07/29/2026)Day 3: Hermann\, MO (07/30/2026)Day 4: St. Charles\, MO (07/31/2026) \n\n\n\nHighlights from 2025\n\n\n\nRead the story the Kansas City Star did on the team.Racing a storm on the river with Isaac and Jake.See the video of Isaac and Jake at the 2025 MR340 finish. \n\n\n\nRecognition Wall
