Emily Haapala

Jason is a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist with a passion for helping people who are blind or visually impaired build confidence, independence, and freedom of movement. 

With experience at the Austin, Texas, school district, the Austin Lighthouse, and Vision Loss Resources in Minnesota, Jason has developed and led programs that open doors to mobility, employment, and new possibilities for those he serves. He holds a Master’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in Orientation and Mobility from Texas Tech University and brings more than a decade of hands-on experience in adaptive instruction, coaching, and service. 

Outside of work, Jason is an avid Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor and coach, instilling the same perseverance, discipline, and encouragement in his students that he brings to Alphapointe.
